Winner of the Name That Kitty Contest!

We had a lot of good entries, but only one could be chosen. Actually, the name we ultimately decided on was just a little different than the suggested name and we're very happy with it.

Darlene had commented on my request for Chessie & Me freebies..."Speaking of Chessie, that would be a cute name also". Well, since the monster is a boy, we have changed that to CHESTER!

Congratulations, Darlene! I'll send you an email to get your snail mail! Thanks to everyone for the suggestions ~ it was really fun!

Here's what Chester thinks about this...

Weight Loss

Finally, I'm getting my act together and starting back on Weight Watchers ~ it is the only "diet" (really lifestyle modification) that has ever worked for me ~ well, stress works, too ~ I lost 15 pounds in the months leading up to DD's wedding, plus I was having hot flashes! I've let my weight creep back up and I need to nip it, nip it, nip it in the bud now! I'm doing Weight Watchers online and I think it is working very well so far, only been six days....

See my cute tracker at the top of my page? I hope to keep that updated.

Need Help ~ Valdani Perle Cotton to DMC

Does anyone have a conversion chart showing Valdani to DMC? I use DMC floss instead of perle cotton for most of my applique projects only because I have almost every color made in DMC. One project I'm working on calls for Valdani perle cotton and I would love to convert this to DMC. Anybody have a conversion chart? Thanks so much in advance!!

Here's the Prize for the Name That Kitty Contest!

Okay, so I finally put the baby down and put together the price for the Name That Kitty contest below.  It is a fun pattern from Sam Sarah Design Studio called "Jumping Jacks".  Perfect for fall!  Also included are the button embellishments for the larger piece.  I'll leave the fabric/floss choice up to you.  The pattern calls for 30 ct R&R Reproductions Beach Blend, but that is not made anymore.  You could substitute a yummy light teal or even change everything around to suit your mood! Here's the pic ~

Remember, I need names or else the wittle, bitty kitten is doomed to be called Dammit for the rest of his life!!  Post suggestions on the previous post only ~ all rules listed on that post.  Contest ends Sunday August 15th!  Tell your friends, etc.  Thanks for all the names submitted to date!  And no, I'm sorry, but Mark Harmon is NOT the prize....if I had him, I'd keep him LOL!!!

Name That Kitty Contest!

Still basking in grandmotherly bliss here ;o) Thank you for all the well wishes! Every day is better and better LOL!

Now on to a contest of sorts....

Remember this little monster?

Well, he needs a name.  We've been calling him "Dammit" as in "Dammit, get off my leg!" or "Dammit, quit biting me!".  However, neither the vet nor my mother thought that was amusing in the least.  I've been so blissed out with little Hayden that my brain is just mush.  I can't think of any names at all.  So, here's the contest.  I want y'all to submit names, as many names as you wish, but only 1 name per comment and ONLY on this post!  The person who submits the winning name will win a little something or other from my stash.  It might be a pattern, or a piece of linen, or some over-dyed floss, or a combination of items, but definitely all good stuff!  I'm working in my craft room today and I'll put together the prize and take a picture of it and post it later on.  If the winning name has been submitted multiple times by different people, I will put those submissions in a bowl and draw a name from that.  Sound like a plan?  Very important, due to the obscenely high cost of postage outside of the United States, I regretfully need to limit the contest to US residents only.  Also, you must be a follower of this blog (see sidebar to follow).  Please, please make sure I have a way to contact you (email address).  You can mention this on your blog, too!  The more, the merrier!

The contest will end next Sunday, August 15, at noon.  The winner will be announced Monday (August 16) morning.

Contest Overview:
  • Open to US residents only.
  • You must be a follower of my blog.
  • May submit multiple names, but only one name per comment.
  • Comment only to this post.
  • Contest ends August 15 at noon EST.  Winner will be announced the morning of August 16.

Here's some particulars to help you with coming up with names:  He's a boy.  He's about 3 months old.  He is white and yellow with what appear to be pale green eyes.  He will be neutered ASAP.  He has sharp teeth and even sharper claws (you really should see my legs ~ it looks like I've been shaving with the world's oldest razor).  He has absolutely no fear.  He's only sweet when he's sleeping!

She's Here!

It's been two weeks since I blogged, but so much was going on ~ plus work picked up and I just needed to get it done!

Now, here's the best news of all ~ sweet Baby Hayden is here (finally)!!!  August 6, 2010, 8 lbs 2.3 ounces, 18 inches long, and the most beautiful baby ever!!!!  I think she looks just like her mom and I'm digging through her baby pictures to prove it!
