A Favor To Ask?

I want to try my hand at designing a sampler and small stitched pieces, but I'm looking for a specific alphabet (or at least the font name)!  It's similar to one used by Stacy Nash and Jenny Hoffman of Country Rustic Primitives.  It's a primitive slanted script.  I don't have a single alphabet book and I don't mind purchasing one, but I do need it to have that script.  If I even had the name of the font, I could try to chart up something myself....If you can help, please let me know!!!

And to remember the USS Arizona...USS Arizona

1,177 men rest at the bottom of the harbor, encased in the Arizona's rusty hull.  In the Navy's known history, there hzs never been a ship that has taken so many of its crew down with her.

I'm On A Roll!

I can't believe I'm actually accomplishing things!  Even with my kitchen/pantry still a total disaster area (are we on week 2 or 3 now of everything item from my pantry on my breakfast room table?)!  I can show you two cross stitched pieces I did "years" ago (from my drawer of shame) that I have fashioned into little pillow ornaments.  They are from Shepherd's Bush ~ the Be-Attitude Series ~ Be Merry and Be Jolly!  I've got them listed in my Etsy store, but I won't cry if they don't sell ~ LOL!!

For all the stitching I've managed to get done, I'm just not feeling the Christmas spirit this year...very tired and not enthusiastic about decorating the house and having everyone over on Christmas day and then undecorating the house!  Over the years, I've managed to downsize Christmas...I used to have a tree in every room of the house ~ I must have been insane!!  Now, I have a little 3-foot tree that I set up in the living room on a pedestal table.  My sweet DD and her hubby came over today and brought little Hayden to visit.  Christa made dinner and decorated my tree for me ~ I love her just for that!!  I'm just going to keep it minimal this year.  I have two Rubbermaid bins and that's what I will store Christmas in ~ if it doesn't fit, I don't keep it!

Anyhoo, I'm hoping you all are having a happy and productive weekend!

P.S. ~ I'm having trouble keeping up with reading all my blogs, but I continue to be inspired by all the beautiful work everyone has done!  Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the inspiration and eye candy!!!

Scrappy Penny Pillow Cover

I finished a little scrappy penny pillow cover which I have listed in my Etsy shop! I raided my scrap basket for this and used some Osnaburg for the background and a black/tan checked homespun for the back! It is 12x12 ~ you can get an insert at either JoAnn's or Hancock's. I think I'll have to make a couple of these myself!!

Hope y'all have a wonderful day!

Just A Quickie...

Just a little quickie today...

I found this cute pattern in a pile of stuff I was going through. I don't even remember when I got it. I will not be using it and was wondering if someone out in blogland would like it? If so, leave a comment here on this post and Wednesday morning I'll pick someone and mail it to that person. I guess this is a contest of sorts, but not really ~ just wanting to find a good home for a cute Indygo Junction pattern!!!

Hope y'all have a happy Monday (if such a thing is possible)!!

Feeling Accomplished!!

I love the feeling of accomplishment when I actually finish stitching a piece and then really "finish" it!! And I'm enjoying that feeling right now! I finished La-D-Da's Bird In Hand last night and made it into a cute box. I got the paper mache box at Hobby Lobby, spraypainted it Espresso Brown (which is what I had on hand), and lined it with some fabric I had in my stash which was absolutely perfect for the piece ~ the pinwheel flowers on the fabric really matched the pattern. All I needed to do was drab it some with some Rit Dye (Tan). Then I mounted the stitched piece on top of the box and used some chenille that I also dyed to trim around it. Ta-Da!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful, peaceful Thanksgiving! Now, go forth and stimulate the economy!!!!

No Stitching Lately

Well, I had hoped to do some stitching this past weekend, but it was not to be...we discovered pantry moths in our pantry ~ Yuck!! So the entire weekend was spent emptying the pantry, throwing out food, and cleaning. These are pantry moths:

And here is the empty pantry (with holes filled in with sheetrock mud) and most of the food and stuff all in our kitchen....

Is there an upside to pantry moths? Why yes, there is! A totally redone pantry with new paint & new wood shelves ~ I hate that wire shelving!!! Plus, throwing out tons of stuff never used. I mean, really, how many years does one need to keep that bottle of vanilla extract?

Anyway, I hope to get more stitching done this long weekend (five days off for me ~ yay)!

And now, I have just have to leave you with this offering from YouTube!  It's hilarious!!!

Penny Rug

Just wanted to share a penny rug candle mat that I'm putting together with some colorful wool scraps. Instead of using a black base, I'm using a yummy chocolate brown wool that used to be someone's nice skirt! Just need to stitch the pennies onto the mat and then I'll back it with a piece of homespun or another piece of wool ~ haven't made up my mind yet.

Wool Bundles For Sale

I'm going through my upcycled wool ~ I've got more than I will use in this lifetime!!! So I am bundling different pieces together for sale. The pieces are different sizes and you will get a total of approximately 1095 square inches. The wool has already been washed and dried (felted).  There are different thicknesses ~ coat weight, pants/skirt weight.  You could even overdye this wool using tea or perhaps Ritz dye.  Perfect to add to your stash for penny rugs, applique, etc.!!  I've got 3 of this particular wool bundle available for sale.

I'm selling this bundle of wool (12 pieces) for $10. S/H in the US will be $3.50. Let me know if you're interested! I'm going to be listing these in my Etsy shop either today or tomorrow.

Strawberries!!

Just wanted to share the strawberries that I finished and listed on Etsy!!

Not Too Much To Talk About!

It's been a very hectic week for me with work ~ and I am so thankful I have work right now. My DH is working on a day-to-day basis with his job.

I am finishing up two more of my strawberry pincushions which I hope to list on Etsy this weekend ~ I will post pictures soon!

I have been doing some rummaging through my craft room trying to downsize a little. I found these magazine binder strips that you can use to put magazines in a 3-ring binder. I have 36 of them that I will not use. I would like to sell them for $12 which includes postage in the US. Let me know if you are interested. Below is an example of what they look like.

I'm also going through some of my upcycled wool ~ I think I have more than I will ever use.  I have already felted the wool, but I have not overdyed them.  I'm going to try that this week to see what kind of results I get with the wool that I'm going to keep for myself.  The remainder will be cut into fat 1/8ths for sale.  They will be bundled up in different colors and hopefully someone will be able to use them!

Well, that's all for right now

New Finishes!

It has been a productive weekend for me ~ two new finishes!!

The first one is a floss tag I put together ~ the design is from Plum Pudding Needle Arts (I think it was a freebie ~ not sure). I found the backing fabric at JoAnn's ~ love the sunflowers! I'm listing this on Etsy today.

Next is my first ever strawberry pincushion! The pattern is by Nicoletta Farrauto. Since this is my prototype, I think I'll keep it. I will probably make some changes in its construction, mainly the leaves. We'll see.

Here's a question for you:  As I'm browsing on eBay or etsy, I sometimes see items listed like this:

pRiM StiTcheD HaNgInG CuPbOaRd SaMpLeR 1843

Why?  What is the purpose of the random capital and small letters?  Just very very curious!

Need Help!

Okay, three posts in one day!

I have an issue using twisted floss cording when finishing a flatfold or other cross stitch piece. How is the best way to meet up the ends of floss cording without it looking messy? You know how the cording comes apart when it is cut? I have tried using fray check, clear tape, etc. and it still is noticeable on my pieces! Any suggestions on how to best connect the ends?  Virtual cookies will be shared!!

OMG, Thank you!!!

OMG, what a wonderful surprise! Thank you, April (April Mechelle's Dull Life) for your neat package! You have absolutely brightened my day! I can't wait to make the little pendant "Wicked" by The Primitive Needle ~ the silk floss is an added treat!  Lots of virtual chocolate chip cookies sent your way!

Finally Back Home...

Thank you for all the kind comments! I'm finally back home and trying to get back into the swing of things.  The wedding was absolutely beautiful, as was the bride ;o)  I definitely want to go back to Charleston to do some serious sightseeing!  One sour note from the whole trip was an apparent gallbladder attack I had early Sunday morning ~ first time ever and I swear, I was about ready to drive myself to the ER. The pain was absolutely incredible.  I honestly thought I was having a heart attack!!!  If it happens again, I'm taking myself directly to the hospital and will follow up with a gastroenterologist!

I have managed to get some pieces finished this week and will be listing them in my Etsy store this week...

Quaker Acorn (The Workbasket) ~ I finished this into a scissor pocket...first time for me and I love it!!!

Bird & Pumpkin Pillow (Brenda Gervais) ~ thanks to Carol who suggested the pillow finish!

A cute design from Windy Willow (freebie) ~ fashioned into a little pillow with chenille trim.

Progress & A Wedding!

I FINALLY finished Bird & Pumpkin (a freebie from With Thy Needle & Thread, Brenda Gervais). For such a simple design, I spent an inordinate amount of time frogging! I really need to pay attention to the pattern!! I stitched this on 32 count Irish Cream linen with DMC floss.  I'm hesitant about "dirtying" it up some with some Distress spray.  Also, I need to figure out how to finish it ~ any ideas?  Please??

We are heading out of town tomorrow to go to Charleston, SC for my niece's wedding.  I've never been to Charleston and I'm so excited!!!  The wedding is at the French Huguenot Church...isn't it beautiful?

Does anyone know of any good cross stitching stores/quilt stores in the area they can recommend?  If so, please let me know!

Happy Birthday to my Hubby!

Not sure Jeff will "stop by" today, but just in case...

Happy Birthday, Jeff! 51 years never looked so good ~ muuuah (kiss, smack)!
